The heart of our business

Here at Hemp Home, we take pride in the manufacturers we work with. We focus on supporting small manufacturers who are as committed to sustainability as we are.

At the heart of our mission is putting people and planet first so we only list products that are ethical, environmentally sound, and support the local communities in which they’re made. So we thought we’d introduce you to some of our amazing artisans.

Their story

Originally started in the 1970s as a small household business that focused on handcrafted seagrass baskets they have grown into an international exporter of natural homewares that supplies 23 countries across 5 continents. Our business is lucky enough to be one of their partners.

The company is still owned and run by the same woman, Tran Thi Viet who started it all. She is now joined by 2 of her daughters and employs 30 full-time weavers and over 500 seasonal weavers in their local factory. Like us, they are focused on sustainability, valuing local expertise, and providing their employees with fair working conditions and training so they can thrive in their roles.

Their products

Specializing in handcrafted baskets, rugs and bags made from locally grown natural materials including agricultural by-products they are a very sustainable company. We’re a big fan of local manufacturing that utilizes the local suppliers and waste materials because it makes products that have a very low carbon footprint and creates a robust economy within these rural areas.

Their products are developed from traditional weaving techniques incorporating modern design and style trends. This process creates beautiful pieces that showcase the cultural history of the Vietnamese people while still being right at home in any décor.

In our collection you’ll find many pieces from Vietnam like our Vinh Long Runner. This runner is made using traditional weaving techniques and entirely sustainable, natural materials, no plastics here. The natural fiber floor runner is made from water hyacinth and corn husks in a striped pattern. It’s incredibly durable and will last for years.

Among their range of handcrafted baskets are some amazing storage units too. They make excellent choices for storing kids toys, blankets, clothes or craft supplies. Alternatively, they make attractive and interesting plant pot covers. Most of their handcrafted baskets come in several sizes, so you’ve got plenty to choose from.

Our mission

We set up Hemp Home with a mission to provide sustainable and low-waste options for those wanting a more eco-friendly lifestyle. Among our range of natural homewares are some great options for reusable shopping bags, which are often the first step people take to a more sustainable life.
